about
Nashville's own Holly Bruce is back with a soul-stirring track; serving as the second release from her forthcoming album “Love Remains”, her single “What I Know” delves into the depths of idealizing others and the journey toward self-discovery. Inspired by her personal experience of navigating an unattainable crush, Bruce's introspective lyrics and haunting melodies offer a glimpse into her own quest for truth and empowerment. "What I Know" is a poignant reminder that the true source of fulfillment lies within oneself, shedding light on unhealthy patterns and rebuilding self worth.
"The crush was a projection," Bruce reveals. "I discovered that the real search and need was within myself."
The production journey of "What I Know" began in 2019 at the renowned "PlethoraTone" studio in Brentwood, TN. After undergoing a transformative process, the track emerged as a captivating blend of Indie Pop, Americana, and Folk, infused with hints of dance and world influences. Serving as the main composer on the track, the collaboration also includes award-winning musicians like Lex Price and Brian Allen on Bass, Kevin Daily on Electric Guitar, Jake Campbell on Acoustic Guitar and Jason Erie on Baritone Guitar. The song was mixed by well-known Nashville producer and engineer, Chris Brush.
Holly Bruce's musical journey is deeply rooted in her passion for both music and healing arts. From an early age, she has crafted melodies by ear, honing her skills while studying Music Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory. Today, Bruce's evocative vocals and emotive lyrics convey a wide range of emotional depth, drawing listeners into her own healing process and journey. She is actively exploring opportunities to place her music in television and film, aiming to expand her reach and impact.
The upcoming album "Love Remains" promises to be a compelling compilation of poetic lyricism, highlighting Bruce's decade-long journey of love, grief, recovery, and empowerment. As anticipation builds for the release of "Love Remains," Holly Bruce continues to captivate audiences with her authentic storytelling and soulful melodies. With "What I Know," she invites listeners on a transformative journey of self-discovery and healing, solidifying her status as one of Nashville's most promising talents.

“What I Know”
Written & Composed in 2016 by Holly Bruce
Maybe I shouldn’t have fallen so fast,
Knowing that a fantasy wouldn’t last,
Maybe I should’ve known better than that, but
Baby you look like a patch of greener grass,
Maybe I’m a dreamer but you’re so beautiful,
With your heart of gold and words that fall like snow,
Maybe I’m no winner but I see a miracle,
And I’m holding on and letting go,
To what I don’t know, what I don’t know, ohh
What I don’t know
What I don’t know, what I don’t know, ohh
What I don’t know
Well they say third times a charm, well I think I’ve passed,
My groove so deep yet it’s good for a laugh,
And I’ve started to think that, perhaps,
It’s just one giant mirror of my past,
Maybe I’m a dreamer but you’re so beautiful,
With your heart of gold and words that fall like snow,
Maybe I’m no winner but I see a miracle,
And I’m holding on and letting go,
To what I don’t know, what I don’t know, ohh
What I don’t know
What I don’t know, what I don’t know, ohh
What I don’t know
Well what was I thinking to fall before it all,
Came to light of her in your life well I feel so small,
Thank you for the reminder to go back in again,
Remembering to be my own, best friend
Maybe I’m a dreamer and I am beautiful,
With my heart of gold and words that fall like snow,
Maybe I’m a winner, cause I am a miracle,
And I’m holding on and letting go,
To what I know, what I know, ohh
What I know, Cause I know, what I know, Ohh, Now I know
